This project was developed during a 2 weeks period with students at ENAV, School of Visual Arts in Maputo.
As a start to the project I gave several talks in two main subjects: lectures in type history and typography
followed by lecture in design's social aspects and the power to transform through design.
The project focuses on downtown Maputo. We called this project Projecto Zona.
It had an impact on the area and initiated an important debate around city, public space and social responsibility.
We were invited to present and discuss our work at Mozambique's National Radio and on television channel TVM.

Students first had to walk around one block in downtown Maputo with an analitical approach.
Who are the people that live this space? What buildings? What services exist? How do people live this space?
I asked them to talk to people, ask questions and take pictures. I asked them to look for new perspectives.

All the material was presented by each group and discussed. Together we created different tasks focusing
on the problems encountered. More ideas were explored, but are still not finished! We are still working!:
